Orange County, Florida

There are several districts around the United States that are named “Orange County”.  The Orange County that we deal with here at Bahia Real Estate is the Orange County located in Florida.  After all, Bahia Real Estate specializes in buying and selling real estate throughout Florida.

Orange County, Florida, was originally called “Mosquito Country”, but this name didn’t do justice to the luscious vegetation and climate of the area, so the county was renamed for the groves and orchards of citrus fruit that grew so abundantly.  While these orange groves, with their exquisite scent, and the attractive contrast between the vivid fruit and the leaves, are not as abundant as they once were, one of the major road networks in Orange County is still known as the “Orange Blossom Trail”.

What makes Orange County, Florida unique among the other Orange Counties around the USA is Walt Disney World. This resort means that this area is a tourist Mecca, seeing thousands visiting the area every year.

Another notable feature about Orange County is that it is experiencing a massive population growth.  New houses are being built in Orange County at the rate of 7800 acres per year – that’s a lot of houses to buy and sell!

Orlando is the county seat of Orange County, but other urban centres in the area include Apopka, Belle Isle, Maitland and Ocoee.  Bell Isle is notable for its chain of lakes, which makes for delightful waterfront communities and living.

Within Orange County, you will find a number of urban centers, both incorporated and unincorporated.  The names of some of the unincorporated muncipalities are quite unique and delightful – who wouldn’t want to be able to write “Azalea Park” or “Tangelo Park” or “Tangerine” as part of their home address?
